LREP is led by four Managing Principals with longstanding experience in the real estate industry. Their skill sets and those of the other members of the senior management team include expertise in corporate and real estate operations, financing, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.
Matthew J. Lustig | Managing principal
Mr. Lustig is the Chief Executive Officer and a Managing
Principal of LREP and a Managing Director of LAI. He is separately a Managing
Director of Lazard and is responsible for Lazard’s real estate industry
investment banking activities.
Mr. Lustig has managed LREP, set strategy, and overseen many
of the transactions within LREP’s investment funds. Mr. Lustig is Chairman of the Board and a
member of the Executive Committee of Atria and a Director of Commonwealth
Atlantic Properties Inc. He has
previously served, on behalf of LREP funds, as a Director of Brandywine Realty
Trust (NYSE: BDN), iStar Financial Inc. (NYSE: SFI) and Kapson Senior Quarters
Corp., and as a member of the Partnership Committee of The Rubenstein Company
L.P. Mr. Lustig is also member of LAI's
private equity and venture capital investment committees.
Mr. Lustig oversees Lazard’s real estate investment banking
business and has extensive experience in advising clients with respect to
strategic matters, restructuring, finance and capital raising, and first tier
asset and portfolio sales. In recent
years, he has advised on over $175 billion of strategic transactions involving
leading real estate companies in the public and private markets. Mr. Lustig is also a member of Lazard's
fairness opinion committee.
Prior to joining Lazard in 1989, Mr. Lustig was a First Vice
President at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He
was previously a lending officer with Chase Manhattan Bank specializing in
credit, construction, and real estate finance.
Mr.
Lustig is a member of various industry organizations including Real Estate
Roundtable, Urban Land Institute, Pension Real Estate Association, the Real
Estate Advisory Boards at Columbia University School of Business, and The Wharton School Zell/Robert Lurie Real Estate Center. Mr. Lustig received a B.S.F.S. in
International Economics from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service.
Gary Ickowicz | Managing Principal
Mr. Ickowicz is a Managing Principal of LREP with
responsibility for acquisitions and investment management. Mr. Ickowicz is a
Director and President of Commonwealth Atlantic Properties Inc. and has
previously served, on behalf of LREP funds, as a Director of Kimsouth Realty,
Inc. and as a member of the Partnership Committee of American Apartment
Communities III L.P.
Previously, he was a Director in Lazard’s real estate
investment banking group, focusing on corporate merger and acquisition
transactions. He has also been involved in
a wide range of capital-raising and strategic advisory assignments for domestic
and international real estate companies.
Mr. Ickowicz began his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in
its real estate group. He moved to
Drexel Burnham Lambert as a First Vice President before joining Lazard in
1989. In addition, Mr. Ickowicz has been
involved in the acquisition, redevelopment, and re-leasing of approximately
1,600 multi-family units and 250,000 square feet of commercial space as a
private investor. Mr. Ickowicz is a
Director of Resource Capital Corporation (NYSE: RSO) and two not-for-profit
affordable housing entities.
Mr. Ickowicz is a member of various industry associations
including the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping
Centers, and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. Mr. Ickowicz received a B.S. and an M.M.S.
from Stevens Institute of Technology.
John A. Moore | Managing principal
Mr. Moore is a Managing Principal and the Chief Financial
Officer of LREP and a Managing Director of LAI with responsibility for
acquisitions and investment management.
He is the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Atria where he is
also a member of the Executive Committee.
He previously served as a member of the Partnership Committee for The
Rubenstein Company, L.P., a member of the Membership Committee of InTown
Holding Company, L.L.C., and as a Director of ARV Assisted Living, Inc., on
behalf of LREP funds.
Prior to joining LREP in 1998, Mr. Moore was Executive Vice President
and Chief Financial Officer of World Financial Properties, a private New York
City based office property owner/operator and the predecessor to a subsidiary
of the public company Brookfield Property Corporation (NYSE: BPO). Prior to joining World Financial Properties,
he worked with Olympia and York Properties as Senior Vice President, Finance
and led the financial and restructuring efforts in the company’s $5 billion
bankruptcy reorganization. Prior to joining
Olympia and York, he worked as a real estate lender with the Sumitomo Bank in
New York and Sovran Bank in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. Moore is a member of various industry associations
including Pension Real Estate Association, Executive Board of the American
Senior Housing Association, and Assisted Living Federation of America. Mr. Moore received a B.A. from Yale
University.
Douglas N. Wells | Managing principal
Mr. Wells is a Managing Principal of LREP with responsibility
for acquisitions and investment management. Mr. Wells previously represented
LREP as President of InTown Suites Management, Inc. and a member of the
Membership Committee of InTown Holding Company, L.L.C., the parent of InTown
Suites. He also served, on behalf of
LREP funds, as a member of the Partnership Committee of DP Operating
Partnership, L.P., the Partnership Committee of The Rubenstein Company L.P. and
the board of Center Trust, Inc. (Formerly traded NYSE: CTA), where he was a
member of the Investment Committee and the Compensation Committee.
Prior to joining LREP in 1997, Mr. Wells was with The Mutual
Life Insurance Company of New York/ARES Realty Capital, Inc. from 1993. He was a Vice President from 1995 to 1997
responsible for restructuring non-performing real estate loans and asset
management, property management and leasing of the parent company’s equity real
estate investments. Mr. Wells was with Shelter Corporation of Canada Limited
from 1988 to 1991, where he was involved with property development, leasing,
and management of office, retail and multi-family assets.
Mr. Wells is a member
of the Urban Land Institute and the Pension Real Estate Association. He received a B.A. from Trent University and
an M.B.A. from the University of Denver.
